Web 2.0 Tools (Week 4)

What are Web 2.0 Tools?

Web 2.0 Tools are internet tools or media sites that are interactive and enable the user to do more than just receive information through the web.  Through Web 2.0 Tools the user has the capability to interact and create information and content with others for social purposes, education and business.  Blogs, WordPress, Facebook, Youtube are examples of Web 2.0 Tools that peoples are using every day.

How could you use Web 2.0 Tools in your teaching practice?

Students find technology fun and engaging; and because Web 2.0 Tools are interactive and multipurpose they can be incorporated into teaching practices through delivery of teaching curriculum content in the classroom such as Powerpoints and Prezis, but also for full delivery of curriculum content when doing remote learning.  This was especially evident and useful during the height of Covid 19 epidemic when online remote leaning was delivered from teachers to students via Web 2.0 Tool platforms such as Zoom and Teams.  Students can also include these tools in their submission of assignments, and are using these skills every day when creating videos and editing photos etc on social media platforms like Instagram and Tic Toc.

List a range of Web 2.0 Tools and how their application can be used in the classroom environment
